OUR STORY · EST. 2019

We started a channel
about becoming.

Spark Growth is an initiative of 2 and a half people (a couple + 1 small kid) trying to make weekly videos about the slow, unglamorous work of becoming a person, trying to learn and process generational trauma, reparenting, anxiety, the nervous system from the books and people that keep teaching us. This is the long version of how we got here. Especially dedicated to our half part 💛.

"A steady voice in the noise."

◆ THE ORIGIN

We didn't start with a plan.

It started because we couldn't find the channel we needed, so we tried to make something close to it.

The first video was a test. For a long while we'd been trying to learn more about parenting, how to improve ourselves so our child wouldn't inherit the legacy of our own traumas. That led us deep into the topic, and we kept noticing the same thing: there was a real space for the kind of work we wanted to see, but it was scattered across so many different podcasts and corners of the internet. So we thought, let's give it a try.

It found viewers, and then more, and then more. Then someone actually wrote to us: "I've been trying to put this into words for a decade." That's when we thought, okay, now it's time to actually invest in this.

What started as a test became a body of work about the things our families couldn't say out loud, and the slow, daily practice of saying them anyway.

If you're new here, start with the video pinned to the channel. Or the books page. Both are good doors in.

◆ WHAT WE BELIEVE

Five quiet convictions.

These aren't slogans. They're the things we keep coming back to when a script isn't working, when an email is hard to answer, when we want to give up on a video and post something easier instead.

01

Healing is slow

And that's not a failure. It's the actual shape of the work. We pace the channel for marathon, not sprint.

02

Naming is half the work

Most pain that gets passed down is pain that never got language. We try to put words on the things our families couldn't.

03

Bodies tell the truth

The nervous system has a longer memory than the mind. We take it seriously, even when it's inconvenient.

04

You are not your patterns

You inherited them, but you are not them. There's a self underneath that the patterns were trying to protect.

05

Cycle-breaking is daily

Not a single brave decision. A thousand small ones, and the grace to start over when you forget.

"If you're tired of the noise, and you can't find anyone telling the truth slowly, you've found us. Pull up a chair."

"I joined because I'd been watching for a year and never said thank you. The badge next to my name feels like a quiet way of saying it."
